About Årets Nybyggare (New Entrepreneur of the Year Award)

Stiftelsen IFS (Internationella Företagare i Sverige) founded and administers the Årets Nybyggare award, established in 1999 to recognize and promote successful entrepreneurs with foreign backgrounds operating in Sweden. The foundation oversees the full selection process, including regional nomination committees and a national jury. Since 2000, His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf has served as the award’s patron and annually presents the prizes at a formal ceremony at the Royal Palace, while the initiative and organizational responsibility remain with IFS.

As of YEAR, Björn Weigel is Chair of the Regional Nomination Committee for Stockholm for the award.
